Fractional RF for skin tightening and cell regeneration

Fractional RF uses micro-needles to deliver radio frequency directly into the dermal layers. It is a non-surgical facelift and offers outstanding results and has become the preferred method of non-invasive skin tightening as it is safer than Co2 ablative lasers.

Fractional RF offers advanced anti-aging benefits to all skin types

Fractional RF (fractional radiofrequency) is suited to all skin types and has positive clinical results for treating wrinkles, skin tightening, pore reduction, scar fading, pigmentation and reducing stretch marks. The treatment is popular for facial skin tightening and rejuvenation and we are able to treat anywhere on the body.

Fractional RF has outstanding success for all skin types with very low risk of side effects and PIH – a key difference when compared to optical based treatments like IPL & Laser. The depth of penetration of the micro-needles can be adjusted from 0.5 to 3.5mm based on treatment target areas with outstanding end results such as skin lifting, pore-size reduction, tightening and overall rejuvenation.

A woman with clear skin and a big bright beautiful smile looking straight at the camera. She's contemplating getting a fractional RF treatment for her full face

Fractional RF - Face

$490

1 Hour

This Fractional RF treatment is performed on the full face, and generally excludes the eye area (assessed individually). Topical anaesthetic will be applied to reduce pain and the entire treatment can take upwards of 2 hours from start to finish.

A man with a scruffy ginger beard and a cheeky expression looks straight at the camera after his fractional RF treatment.

Fractional RF - 1/2 Face

$430

1 hour

This half face Fractional RF treatment is perfect for men as it avoids the beard and facial hair areas, as well as women who only require half their face treated. Fractional RF does damage hair follicles so for men we generally only perform this on the cheeks and upper face areas. For women you may prefer to only treat your jawline and cheeks and we can adjust the treatment areas to suit your preferences.

A young woman with dark skin stretches her neck up close to the camera so that you can see the deep lines and wrinkles that Fractional RF treatments can help rejuvenate

Fractional RF - Neck

$350

1 hour

This Fractional RF treatment is performed under your chin and jawline and down to the base of your neck. This area can be quite sensitive and the treatment is not without pain even with topical anaesthetic. However, the clinical results for skin tightening, skin lifting and rejuvenation are well worth the discomfort.

important facts

Fractional RF is the preferred skin tightening treatment

The delivery method of radiofrequency energy is through micro needles, which by themselves stimulate stem cell populations, and promote collagen and fibroblast production. However, the benefit of delivering radiofrequency in this method is that it bypasses the need to burn and heat the skin's surface entirely.

This is often an associated risk with Co2 ablative lasers as they excessively heat the surface in order to deliver energy to sub-dermal layers. Fractional RF trumps Co2 lasers in this regard as it delivers thermal energy directly inside the skin. This allows for a safer and more predictable treatment without the same burn risks, pain, and downtime.

faq

Frequently asked questions

Will it burn the skin's surface?

The radiofrequency is tightly focused at the tip of each needle and the heat delivered is predominantly within the dermal tissue. This creates far less trauma to the skin's surface and less downtime compared with conventional Co2 fractional lasers.

Is fractional RF painful?

Even with the correct application of topical anaesthetic the treatment can be uncomfortable, but this depends on your skin condition and how deep or aggressive we need to be. It is possible to treat to a 1mm depth without requiring anaesthetic, however, this wouldn't be entirely pain-free either.

Can you treat over my beard?

Fractional RF impedes hair growth and will destroy hair follicles. For this reason we suggest that all male clients only book in for the half face treatment that excludes regions where facial hair normally grows. We can get very close to the edge of your beard with no risk of damaging the follicle. This also applies to areas around the hairline and eyebrows too, we only require a very small offset to ensure we don't damage any underlying hair follicles.

can you treat hooded eyelids?

We can treat above the eyes and below the brow by pushing the skin up into the brow bone. But this depends on your facial structure. If you have high brows with hooded eyelids there is often enough space for us to work in. Fractional RF does impede hair growth so we do not treat this area if there isn't enough space to work with. If you have deep inset eyes and low brows then we cannot treat this area either. Skin needling may be a better solution in this area for you.

Skin needling or Fractional RF?

Skin needling and Fractional RF both rely on needles penetrating into the dermis. Skin needling is generally less painful as the needles are thinner and puncture the skin quickly. Whereas Fractional RF has larger needles that stay inside the skin to release radiofrequency. Although both treatments are considered tolerable, Fractional RF is more painful; with better overall clinical results.

How long is recovery?

You may experience transient erythema on the treated areas for up to 4 hours initially. It's possible that a thin scabbing will form on the surface (which is more akin to a dark, dry tan), however, do not be concerned by this as this promotes the healing process.

How many treatments do I need?

This depends on the area you are trying to treat and the condition of your skin. The typical interval between treatments is normally every 3 weeks. Most patients see excellent results after 3 treatments. This may vary according to your skin condition, or the depth of wrinkles and scarring. We will be able to discuss this in greater detail when we assess your skin in person.
